EHS Medical Group was started close to 20 years ago to give physicians a choice – and a voice – in
their medical practice decisions when dealing with managed care organizations. EHS Medical Group
focuses exclusively on government programs, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, SCHIP (also known as
Healthy Families) and Healthy Kids (in those counties that offer it). After starting in Los Angeles,
EHS expanded into Sacramento, Fresno, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, and now takes care of
over 165,000 members in the communities we serve.
EHS is now looking to expand its offerings into Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Medi-Cal plans
currently contract on a direct contract basis. We feel the time is right to introduce a new model –
the delegated IPA model. Also called Accountable Care Organizations, delegated IPAs have proven
their ability to contain costs and expand access, especially to the traditionally underserved.
